CONTRACTUAL
EXPECTATIONS
A. DOCUMENTATION
The Religious Leadership, Organization,
Administration and Finance in Context Participation
Agreement is
the
form used for the primary contract between the student and the setting.
All forms are included in the Appendix.
1. The beginning date of the student’s placement will normally be the week following
the first day of classes, usually the second week in September.
2. The ending date will normally be the last week of classes, usually the second week in May.
1. The student is responsible to the setting for the number of hours agreed upon in the
participation agreement.
2. The student is responsible for these hours for the period of time agreed upon in the
participation agreement regardless of
seminary holidays.
1. The setting agrees to provide:
(a) supervision and field instruction for the student.
(b) a Leadership Advisory Group (to be appointed by the field instructor).
(c) reimbursement to the student for on-the-job expenses.
(d) travel reimbursement for mileage over 60 miles round trip to the setting.
2. The
setting should be sensitive to the fact that the student is to be in the
setting
regardless of seminary holidays; therefore, it is appropriate to give,
by common
agreement, some times off, such as:
(a) an
occasional Sunday (no more than two Sundays during the internship) when
the student may worship in his/her home church or a different church, or
participate in some other growth experience.
This is sabbatical time, not
vacation time, and should be reviewed with the student following the
experience. For many students, this kind
of time is important to their
candidacy for ordination.
(b) some
days during the internship for sickness, emotional rest, recreation, upon
request or perceived need. Most students
are busy seven days a week, and
some hours around holidays (if possible), or at other times, are very
beneficial.
3. In
the case of an extended illness or disability, a review of the internship by
the
seminary may be necessary. If this
happens, the setting should be in touch with the
faculty instructor of the course for discussion of appropriate action.
