Dr. Walden Bello to speak at United
"A Constitutional Crisis in the Making:
The Philippines and the 2010 Elections"

Dr. Walden Bello, Philippine Congressman and Professor of Sociology will speak at United on Tuesday, March 9. Dr. Bello is a human rights and peace activist, author, academic and political analyst. His appearance is hosted by the Philippine Study Group of Minnesota and is open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.

Financial Aid for 2010/2011
If you are planning on applying for financial aid from the seminary as well as federal Stafford loans for 2010/2011, you can now complete the FAFSA on line by going to www.fafsa.ed.gov. The seminary school code is G02386. Need based financial aid is subject to funds available on a first-come, first-award basis. It is highly recommended that you complete your FAFSA by April 15, 2010. Buddhist Psychology, Narrative, Mindfulness and Creativity Training Group
Sponsored by the Kenwood Therapy Center and held at the Minnesota Church Center, Minneapolis.
5:00-7:00 PM, March 23 - 30, April 6 - 13

Learn and experience the principles of Buddhist Psychology, Mindfulness and Narrative Therapy as they are applied personally and therapeutically to the concepts of creativity, performance, emotions, cravings, identity and relationships. A complete workshop in itself, this session is also the introductory session for those who want to continue on by putting these ideas into practice in an experiential training group. $150 for all 4 sessions. Project Homeless Connect

Help to end homelessness, one person at a time.
Project Homeless Connect is a one-stop shop model for delivering services to people experiencing homelessness. Hennepin County and the City of Minneapolis are partnering with service providers, businesses, citizens, and faith communities to bring multiple resources to one location where people can come to find the services they need. These services include: housing providers, employment specialists, medical care, mental health care, benefits specialists, eye care, haircuts, transportation assistance, food and clothing. 2010 Mahle Lecture in Progressive Christian Thought
Known for her passionate and lyrical prose, Williams is the author of the environmental literature classic, Refuge: An Unnatural History of Family and Place. Terry Tempest Williams has been called "a citizen writer," a writer who speaks out eloquently on behalf of an ethical stance toward life. In this year's Mahle Lecture Williams will explore the theme of Finding Beauty in a Broken World, also the title of her most recent book. The lecture is free and open to the public. Cynthia Bourgeault is an internationally known retreat leader, serves as Principal Teacher for the Contemplative Society and as an adjunct faculty member at the Vancouver School of Theology. A teacher of prayer, writer on spiritual life, and Episcopal priest, she is author of six books: Chanting the Psalms, Mystical Hope, The Wisdom Way of Knowing, Centering Prayer and Inner Awakening, Love is Stronger Than Death, and The Wisdom Jesus.

Integrative Notebook Review (INR)

As a matriculated student in a United Masters degree program, it is the student's responsibility to make an appointment with your advisor to review together the contents of your Integrative Notebook. The INR is a required component of the degree program. For more information, read pages 27-29 of the Masters Student Handbook, available in the Student Services section at mercury.unitedseminary.edu. If the INR is not finished by the end of spring term, a hold will be placed on fall term registration until it is completed.

Your Opinion is Sought on the Future Governance Structure of the UCC
Thursday, March 18 at Noon, following Chapel

One of the resolutions passed at the UCC General Synod in 2009 was to create a unified structure of governance out of the five autonomous boards which make up the current governance structure. A working group has been appointed to prepare a proposal to the next General Synod for this unified structure and the working group is currently engaged in a series of Dialogue and Discernment listening sessions throughout the church. UCC students at United and Luther Seminary are invited to be part of this process. Anita Bradshaw, a member of the working group, will be on hand to facilitate the process. Come and be a part of the future of our church.

Environmental Education Workshop

A workshop regarding the use of environmental education materials in a Christian education setting will be held at United on Saturday, May 15, 2010 from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. The workshop will primarily be geared to teachers of 3 - 5 year olds, but all are welcome. Anticipated cost is $20 - $25. More information will be available at a later date.
